Welcome to Wyke Primary School
On behalf of the children, staff and Governors, I would like to warmly welcome you to Wyke Primary School’s website. I hope you find the information useful and informative and that it gives you an insight into our school. However, the best way to get a real feel about us is to come and visit Wyke, look around and meet our children and staff.
We are a community primary school situated in Gillingham, North Dorset, with dedicated staff and are proud to offer a safe, welcoming and nurturing school that offers a sense of belonging. We are a growing school and we pride ourselves that we know each and every child inside out. We do our best to help each child find their strengths and talents so that they will flourish and be challenged.
Believing our school is an inspiring place with a stimulating and broad creative curriculum, we wish to energise learning and encourage children to develop an enquiring mind, a desire for knowledge, have high personal expectations, become resilient learners and have a good understanding and respect for others. We aim to make learning fun with lots of challenge, while setting ambitious goals for the future.
Recognising that positive strong self-esteem is essential in enabling our children to lead happy and successful futures and we aim to ensure that our pupils leave us as caring, happy, confident and adaptable, equipped with the passion to continue and develop their learning and social skills.
Seeking to offer our children a vast range of opportunities to light the spark of their learning, we work with our families, in partnership in their child’s education, to ensure that all children achieve their potential across our community, having high expectations of ourselves and others. The most effective education is achieved when teachers and parents work together in a genuine partnership which results in all children being proud of their work, personal achievements and their own school.
We look forward to working with you and your child and welcoming you to our school.
Kind regards,
Ed Birkett
