Wyke Primary School embraced World Book Day on Thursday 5th March. The entire school (and staff!) came to school dressed as a Mr. Men or Little Miss character. The children took part in a range of activities throughout the morning including making up maths stories, making puppet shows containing the characters, inventing our own characters, writing playscripts, making big books and retelling stories using the characters. Heron Class explored the Bill Bryson ‘Really Short History of Nearly Everything’ and then created poster presentations based on the interesting facts they found out. In the afternoon the children shared their morning activities with a different class. Some children also took part in a book swap activity.
The children also took part in a quiz where they had to match the staff member to the character they like. Each member of staff then came dressed at that character on World Book Day!
