On 5th October children and staff across all the classes at Wyke Primary School in Gillingham put down their pens and picked up language in support of No Pens Day Wednesday; a national speaking and listening event organised by The Communication Trust. Each class page will be updated shortly with photographs showing the fun things that took place!
All learning and assessment took place through speaking and listening, rather than writing. Pupils and teachers took part in a Poetry Slam, maths puzzles, drama and creative thinking challenges. One of our Key Stage 1 classes even made a human bar chart to represent their Maths learning!
No Pens Day Wednesday was developed in 2011 by The Communication Trust, a coalition of over 50 voluntary organisations with expertise in speech, language and communication, in partnership with Jean Gross, formerly the Government’s Communication Champion for children.
