On Wednesday 22nd February we said goodbye to Mrs Pauline Hopkins, who had taught at Wyke for 25 years and who sadly passed away in November.
In the morning, Rev’d Eve Pegler led an assembly for the children to remember Mrs Hopkins. Each class lit a candle and shared memories of her. Later in the morning members of the School Council and Mrs Hopkins’ family planted a tree in her memory in the Wrens’ outside play area.
After lunch, over 100 people attended the Open Afternoon to celebrate her life and view the beautiful artwork and memories each child had created. Rev’d Eve led a short service to end the day.
Here are some photos of the tree planting ceremony, together with the artwork produced by the children.
