A Dragon Visits Robin Class!
Robin Class have been learning about Castles and Dragons this term. To enrich their learning in literacy we had a visit from a real life dragon! Roy the iguana came in to assist us with our learning of adjectives to describe a dragon. The children were fascinated by the colours and details on his scaly skin.
World Book Day – Thursday 2nd March 2017
We began by exploring a range of eggs; quail, duck, hen etc we looked closely at the colours and had a go at sketching and painting pictures of them. We imagined what might hatch from them, children thought dragons, dinosaurs, snakes or crocodiles! We read the first pages of ‘Croc and Bird’ and then watched how differently chicks and crocodiles hatch out of their eggs on you tube. We had a go at pretending to be both in a drama session and loved guessing which animal each of us were. We finished our work by reading the rest of the story and writing speech bubbles for each character, explaining how they were feeling and then enjoyed sharing our work with Heron class in the afternoon. It was a wonderful day of storytelling, art, drama and sharing.
Having Fun with Maths! – 18th October 2016

A Letter from the Queen – 11th October 2016

No Pens Day Wednesday – 5th October 2016
For our No Pens Day Wednesday we have been enriching our Science work on reptiles. We were lucky enough to have a visit from a friendly corn snake and a terrific tortoise. We explored their unusual colourings, patterns and scales and then used the day to recreate our own.
It was a wonderful day and we needed no pens or pencils at all! Photos will follow shortly…
Robin Class has launched into its new topic ‘Crazy Creatures’ with a wonderful walk to Pets at Home. Staff gave the children a closer look at the rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters and we even ended up buying a tank and fish for the classroom! The children walked and behaved brilliantly and were a credit to their parents and the school.
We have also been lucky enough to have a visit from a very talented parent who showed the children his incredible portraits of animals. We were very inspired and had a go at creating our own.
