Our Time at Leeson House – by Falcon Class

Day 1: When we arrived at Leeson then we jumped off our coach put our main walking boots and water proof coats on then got back on the coach heading for Durlston Park. Once we got there our guide Amelia took us through time on the time path where every step is 4500000 years! Once we got through we walked slopes and steps to see an amazing valley! After we walked back down we went to spot dolphins and seabirds then we walked to a picnic area and ate lunch (yum!) we had a 2 hour walk back. After we got back we were shown to our rooms and unpacked our stuff. Then had a night-time walk. Once we finished dinner and brushed our teeth we went to sleep.

Day 2: We woke up brushed our teeth ate breakfast got dressed then we got outside then we went into groups I was in group 1 so I did pond dipping first and we all caught amazing little creatures! Such as newts, frogs, massive snails, dragonfly larva and even more amazing creatures! Once we swapped I went into a classroom where we learned about food chains we did bird watching. Once we had a breath in our rooms a bunch of mini buses that we took to Studland beach and we collected a few shells we even had a sandcastle building competition and looked around in the reeds for different plants then to go back to Leeson house had a break did drama about the stories that we heard. Then we did the same eat brush teeth sleep routine.

Day 3: We woke up packed up all our stuff ate breakfast bushed teeth did some amazing geology did 3 hours of orienteering did some team games. Packed up and sorted out everything then got on the coach and left.

Space Rockets! – Friday 14th October 2016

This week, as part of our ‘Space’ topic, we have been making air-propelled rockets. We looked at different ways we could make a rocket launch into the air and found that the air-propelled launch was best. Here are some pictures.

Week of 3rd October 2016 – Circus Skills, No Pens Day Wednesday and Peter Thorpe Art!

Falcon Class has had a very busy week!

On No Pens Day Wednesday, Falcons Class continued to explore their topic of Space (it is also National Space week this week). They created a model of the solar system, and had to find out about the orbit rings for each of the planets around the sun and then put the planets in order. These are now hung up around Falcons Class and look fantastic!

In the afternoon of No Pens Day Wednesday we did some role-play based on the text we have been sharing in guided reading. We really enjoyed acting out scenes as bloodthirsty zombies from outer space!

In art we have been exploring the work of Peter Thorpe and have been creating our own abstract space-themed art. We have used chalks and paints to create colourful pieces of art.

Circus Skills – Friday 7th October 2016

On Friday afternoon Falcon Class had a surprise activity on the field as Steve from Steve Burrows Training came in with his circus equipment and the children were able to have a go. They also took part in some team challenges; it was great fun!
